See What This Work Is - and Isn’t for a clear orientation before diving into FAQ answers
If you feel drawn to look deeper within yourself, to see through old patterns and return to a more natural way of being, this retreat may be the right step.
It’s not about adding something new — it’s about seeing what’s already here with greater clarity.
Iboga is the root bark of a small shrub native to Central West Africa, traditionally used in sacred rites of renewal and understanding.
The medicine works on physical, emotional, and mental levels, helping reveal what stands between you and your own truth. Learn more here. (https://bonniejoycecreative.wixsite.com/journeyin/about-iboga)
Iboga is the whole natural root bark.
Ibogaine is a single chemical compound extracted from that root, most often used in clinical settings for detoxification.
This retreat works only with the whole Iboga root (https://bonniejoycecreative.wixsite.com/journeyin/about-iboga)in its natural form.
Often people come to Iboga after feeling that familiar ways of coping no longer work.
If you feel a quiet curiosity or a strong inner nudge — that may be your sign.
Before any retreat, we’ll go through a full intake to ensure this is the right and safe time for you.
Iboga isn’t a “cure” in the way people often hope for. It doesn’t replace your own work or instantly erase the patterns that brought you here. What it can do is open a level of clarity that’s hard to access in ordinary states. It shows you what has been asking for attention so that real change becomes possible. The insights only matter when they’re lived — that’s where transformation begins.
On the physical side, Iboga has a long history in folk medicine for easing pain, supporting the nervous system, helping with fever, toothache, and times of weakness. Modern research is also exploring how its active alkaloids may influence neuroplasticity — the brain’s ability to repair, adapt, and form new pathways. Early work even points to potential benefits in traumatic brain injuries (TBI), though this is still an emerging area and not a proven treatment.
None of this makes Iboga a cure, but it does show the range of ways it can support the body and mind. The real healing comes from what you do with the clarity it offers. Iboga can open the door — you walk through it.
Iboga invites a profound process, and for some people this may not be the right time or the right medicine. It may not be suitable for people with heart conditions, seizure disorders, significant liver or kidney issues, active psychosis, untreated bipolar disorder, or severe depression where safety is in question. It is also not recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding. Certain medications and substances can interfere with the medicine, so an up-to-date health review is important.
This is not meant to discourage anyone. It is simply part of creating a safe container for the work. That’s why every guest completes a full medical and personal screening beforehand.
When handled with proper care, attention, and guidance,(https://bonniejoycecreative.wixsite.com/journeyin/copy-of-who-this-is-for) it can be a deeply restorative experience.
The experience is unique for everyone. Some people move through vivid inner imagery while others settle into a quieter, more reflective space. You’ll rest in a private and quiet setting with room to be with yourself. You remain aware throughout the process and can open your eyes or speak with me at any time. The journey usually unfolds through the night and carries into the next day.
Iboga also brings physical effects. These are expected and part of how the medicine works through the body.
Common physical sensations include:
• Ataxia or unsteady movement
• Tremors or muscle spasms
• Dizziness
• Nausea or vomiting
• Head pressure or headaches
• A “waking dream” state
• Mental fogginess while the medicine is active
• Sensitivity to light or sound
• A need to rest and remain still
These effects usually settle as the medicine moves through its stages. You’ll be supported throughout, and the setting is designed so you can lie back, relax, and let the process unfold safely.
It’s natural for emotions or memories to surface.
You’re not alone — I’ll be with you throughout.
You can always pause, open your eyes, or talk through what’s happening. The process moves at your pace.
The main journey usually lasts between 12-24 hours.
The following day is for rest and quiet reflection.
Iboga often continues to bring insight and clarity in the days and weeks afterward.
• Eat clean, nourishing food in the days before.
• Avoid alcohol, recreational drugs, and unnecessary medications.
• Rest well before arriving.
• Bring comfortable clothing and anything that helps you feel at ease.
You’ll receive detailed preparation guidance once your retreat is confirmed.
Many guests describe feeling lighter, clearer, and more at peace.
Some experience deep insight into long-held patterns or emotions.
Others notice subtle but lasting shifts, like feeling more grounded, calm, and connected to their daily life.
Some guests also speak of an inner alignment, as if something finally settles into place.
There can be a renewed sense of purpose or direction, a clearer intuition, or simply more space inside to meet life without overwhelm.
Over time, people often notice softer stress levels, improved sleep, and a quieter, more regulated mind.
Each person’s journey is unique, and the benefits tend to unfold in their own rhythm — sometimes suddenly, sometimes gently over weeks — always meeting you right where you are.
After your session, we’ll spend time integrating what arose and ensuring you feel steady before returning home.
Follow-up check-ins are available to share what has been unfolding. I can point to what I’ve seen in my own experience and respond to any questions that come up. The intention is simply to support the natural process of anchoring insights and staying connected to what was discovered.

Everything unfolds at your pace. There is no group energy to manage and nothing pulling you outward.
The space is held gently so you can turn inward without distraction, without comparison, and without the feeling of being observed.
